3/27/2006 Gamer Scores Making Us Whores

I can see it happening now. This is the start of mediocore to absolutely horrible games still making money. All developers have to do is allow gamers to get an easy 1000 points and people will play it to get those points. That is why I am glad to see games like Perfect Dark Zero and G.R.A.W. are making sure this isn't always the case. With some of the almost impossible achievements that Perfect Dark Zero has, no matter how many points someone has from these games that offer easy achievements, you can point to PDZ and prove who is the best because not everyone can beat Dark Agent, or Perfect Agent for that matter. I just don't want to see developers stoop to new lows just to make a pretty penny.

I am not the biggest fan of the Playstation, but in all honesty, I do not want it to bomb. Why? Competition will be good for XBox. I don't want just one ruler in the console wars. Nintendo is doing there thing and being creative which will help in the interactivity of our future games. Nintendo does a pretty good job of even when there is little to not competition in still trying to push itself forward in new ways. I just want PS3 to give the 360 a run in the races so that graphics and power in the consoles can keep increasing at the HUGE rate. This generation (besides Revolution) is by are the largest jump in power of everything within the systems.

Just look at NVidia and ATI. They keep out doing each other back and forth. This brings even better stuff for the people who have to have the greatest and brings the cost down for not the most powerful graphics card, but still incredibley good. With competition, both Playstation and XBox have to keep their prices down while still offering what they feel is the best for the system, for the fans, and for future players.

3/23/2006 3 Days, 4 Games

The past three days, I went on a spending spree. The four games I picked up were Fight Night Round 3, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter, and Metroid Prime Hunters. Now usually when I get games all at one time like this, I usually just play one for a few days and go to the next. But this time I played them all and am loving them all. In fact I am having a hard time doing anything else besides play games. Each one of these games incredible, each one bringing it's own beauty into the world of gaming.

Fight Night for example, this game looks like it's a CG the entire game, it looks like all your doing is watching a movie. The strategy of blocking and countering is awsome. Than there Metroid Prime Hunters. Wow. This game plays fast. The multiplayer is a blast and the single player feels just like the Gamecube Metroids. And if you bought the Metroid Pinball, you can use that rumble pack it game with.If you have a DS, I can't tell you how much you need Metroid. Elder Scrolls IV, it's predicesor has one of the most succesful RPG's on the origional XBox and the new one seems like it will be the same. The environments are huge and beautiful. So much detail went into the making of this game and there is way to much to even explore. Every person you can hold a conversation with, listen in on funny conversations, and every single box and crate has items in it. Finally there is G.R.A.W This shooter from Ubisoft is awsome. The single player is gripping, there you are just walking down these quite streets and you see a red dot, and then another. Next thing you know you see ten red dots on your screen and the drums in the music start pounding. Your fellow troops are all yelling "Cover me," "I got your back." This is how a war game should feel, scary. The multiplayer on-line is well done as well, I almost prefer just playing on-line because it is so much fun.

All of these games are awsome and you should look into them. I only suggest though that you pick up Elder Scrolls if you have a lot of time on your hands because I can already tell this is going to be a long game.

3/20/2006 I like chicken

I wish I had more time to do other things like play video games and work on this site. Unfortunatly I have not played video games for a couple days and have had barely enough time to check my e-mail. I have updated the upcoming games list for the XBox page, I also have included links to some information in case you haven't seen any pictures or movies, I would suggest looking at some of the Elder Scrolls IV shipping out tomorrow and will be in stores Tuesday. Also I would check out the Tomb Raider videos, they have really taken a new aspect to that franchise, they have increased the playing speed of the entire game. Rare, the game developer of Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, and Kameo, has had a small team working on a video game that will correspond with a TV show called Viva Pinata. This game is for young kids and is showing that Microsoft is serios about trying to be everyone, not just a FPS system. So that is it for today, I had to take some time out of my homework time to let eveyone know what is going on in the gaming world, I will most likely have more for you tomorrow.

3/17/2006 More Sony

As all of you who know me already know, I am not a big fan of Sony's products. But it is undiniable that they have made a major impact in the gameing comunity. So if you are a Sony fan or look at the gameing industry as a whole, Sony has just released some major information on the 15th (I know I am a few days behind, been busy). They announced the release date, as well as some addition facts about their upcoming PS3. I will keep you waiting for the news about the release time and talk about the new facts. First they will be providing an on-line service (practically stealing XBox Live system) called the Playstation Network Platform, or PNP. Some of the features of PNP are friends list, download, matchmaking, messaging, score, voice and video chat, shopping, and a subscription. As you can see, no difference between that and XBox Live on the 360. Some of you 360 owners are probably saying "Wait, I can't video chat." Well Microsoft is releasing a video camera rumored to be released May over in Japan (it was in a Japanese magazine). So that service will be on both. PS3's network will be running over Gamespy which is owned by IGN and another company called Quazal. And finally, they have said that the PS3 will be required to have a hard drive. They are also saying for developers to be expecting a 60 GB hard drive to be in the system. Also Sony has said that the hard drives will support Linux OS. I see a lot of hacking (bad for on-line) coming from allowing Linux to be installed. No official word on if the system will come with a hard drive or not, but keep in mind it is required.

Now for the release time. Sony will be sending out the final development kits in July so expect some gameplay footage finally. And the biggest of announcements from Sony, PS3 will be launced world wide in November. Now this does not mean everyone will be getting theirs in November, this is going to be similar to the XBox release where it was "that time frame". So it could be December when we see PS3 over in the United States, at least. They also say that they will be releasing at around one million a month for the first six months.

That is a lot of expensive systems.

3/13/2006 IGN Debate

If you are interested in the PS3 and how succesful it will be, IGN has two people debating from IGN about different topics such as blue ray and the cell processor. Check it out here and learn a little more about what the Metal Gear Solid team has been up to and a sneak peak at The Godfather game coming out, it's the IGN Weekly Episode 2.

3/11/2006 New File System

It seems to be a good time to be at IBM. Besides their custom processor for the XBox 360, and their many other different projects going on, IBM is announcing a new file system. For those of you who are not familiar with what a file system is, in short terms it's how files are stored on a hard drive. For users with Windows XP, you are most likely using NTFS, other types of file systems are Fat 32 and Reiser (Linux). The new file system from IBM is called General Parrallel File System (GPFS). Using the new format, they were able to get 102 Gigabytes per second transfer speeds and a total size of 1.6 petabytes (1024 terabytes = 1 petabyte, 1024 Gigabytes = 1 terabyte). Currently this technology has little use for a home user sense most people don't even need a terabyte and don't have the hardware to handle 102 Gigabyte transfer speeds. This will be good right now for large servers that have a lot of traffic. For some more information, click here to visit IBM's information page of the new file system.

I have just added some news onto the Windows page about the upcoming Windows Vista that you might want to check out. There are a few pictures showing some of the new features including the 3D desktop environment. Go check out Five Forms of Vista on the Windows page.

3/10/2006 Website 2.0

Welcome to the release of the new site. Besides just a new look, I have also completed all the other links such as the entire top menu (all the images up top). There might not be news in all of them just quite yet but there will be, I promise.

Nintendo has had a thing for taking one of their systems and shrinking that they are doing it again with the Nintendo DS. Visit the Handheld Gaming page (the picture of the Nintendo DS) for more information, it's the news listed as The DS on Atkins.

Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfight (G.R.A.W) was released just the other day and has been getting great reviews from everyone including "the first killer title for the 360" from 360Insider.net. I am just starting to find all the joys of Perfect Dark Zero's on-line experiance. When I first tried it, it seemed way to slow. But now I am starting to play it and I find myself just sitting thinking about the game. I am trying to beat PDZ on Perfect Agent and only have one level left to complete, it's no walk in the park.

That is it for today's news. If you have a minute you should drop me a line and tell me what you think of the new site.
